Mobiilvõrku

Mobiilvõrku, also known as a mobile network, refers to a telecommunications network that allows mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to connect to the public switched telephone network and other data networks. These networks are built using a system of base stations, often referred to as cell towers, which provide radio coverage over a specific geographical area called a cell. Mobile devices communicate wirelessly with the nearest base station.

As a user moves from one cell to another, their device seamlessly transfers its connection to a new base station, a process known as a handover. This ensures continuous service without interruption. Mobile networks operate on various radio frequency bands, and the specific frequencies used are licensed by mobile network operators. The technology behind mobile networks has evolved significantly over the years, from the early 2G (second generation) networks that primarily supported voice calls and basic text messaging, to 3G (third generation) for enhanced data speeds, and then to 4G (fourth generation) and 5G (fifth generation) which offer significantly faster data transmission, lower latency, and support for a wider range of applications, including high-definition video streaming and complex online gaming.

The infrastructure of a mobile network includes not only the base stations but also a core network that manages call routing, user authentication, and data traffic. This core network is responsible for connecting mobile devices to the wider internet and other communication services. Mobile network operators invest heavily in expanding and upgrading their networks to meet the growing demand for mobile data and to provide reliable connectivity to their subscribers. The development of mobile networks has profoundly impacted communication, business, and society, enabling constant connectivity and access to information.
