Mobiilinäyttöjen is a Finnish term that translates to "mobile screens" in English. It refers to the display technology used in mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. These screens are crucial for user interaction and displaying visual information.

There are several types of mobile screen technologies, with OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) being the most prevalent. OLED screens offer vibrant colors, deep blacks, and excellent contrast ratios because each pixel emits its own light. This also allows for thinner and more flexible designs. LCD screens, on the other hand, use a backlight to illuminate the pixels, and while they can produce good image quality, they generally do not achieve the same level of contrast or true black as OLED.

Key characteristics of mobile screens include resolution, which determines the sharpness and detail of images, measured in pixels (e.g., Full HD, QHD). Pixel density, expressed in pixels per inch (PPI), further indicates how sharp the display appears to the human eye. Color accuracy and reproduction are also important for displaying images and videos faithfully. Refresh rates, measured in Hertz (Hz), indicate how many times the screen updates per second, affecting the smoothness of motion, especially in scrolling and gaming. Brightness, measured in nits, is essential for visibility in different lighting conditions. Protection is also a consideration, with technologies like Gorilla Glass commonly used to resist scratches and impacts.
