Moanda

Moanda is a town in Gabon, located in the Haut-Ogooué Province in the southeastern part of the country, near Franceville. The town's development is closely linked to the manganese mining industry, which dominates its economy and employment.

The Moanda manganese deposit is among Gabon's largest and has been mined since the mid-20th century. The operation is conducted by Compagnie Minière de l'Ogooué (Comilog), a major producer of manganese ore and a subsidiary of Eramet. Ore extracted at Moanda is processed and shipped for export, contributing significantly to Gabon's mining sector.

Moanda supports a resident population with facilities typical of a mining town, including schools, healthcare, and housing for mine workers. The town acts as an administrative and commercial center for the surrounding mining region and serves as a social and economic hub for the area.
