Mjälteoperation, also known as splenectomy, is a surgical procedure to remove the spleen. The spleen is an organ located in the upper left abdomen, playing a role in filtering blood, fighting infection, and storing blood cells. Splenectomy is typically performed when the spleen is damaged or diseased.
