Mittausehto

Mittausehto is a contractual provision used in Finnish language agreements to specify how measurements related to goods, services, or performance are to be taken. The clause governs the method, instruments, units, and conditions under which measurements are performed, as well as how results are reported and used to determine acceptance, quantity, or price.

The clause may specify who bears the measurement risk and how results from different measurement occasions or lots are reconciled.

Purpose and use of mittausehto are to prevent disputes by clarifying measurement criteria, align expectations between buyer and seller, and provide a basis for invoicing, acceptance tests, or penalties where applicable. It is commonly found in procurement contracts, construction projects, energy or utility supply agreements, and sales of bulk goods where quantity and accuracy are essential.

In practice, the clause may require verification by an agreed third party, specify environmental or operational conditions necessary for accuracy, and outline how to adjust for known losses or biases.
