Missilstyrker, sometimes translated as missile thrusters or missile powerplants, refers to the propulsion systems that provide thrust and control for missile flight. These systems combine engines, propellant feeds, and control surfaces or thrust vectoring mechanisms to achieve the desired trajectory, speed, and maneuverability.

Early missile propulsion was largely limited to solid‑fuel rockets, offering simple ignition and reliable thrust but limited thrust control once launched. During the Cold War, liquid‑fuel missile engines were developed for greater efficiency and throttle control; they required complex plumbing and refueling procedures. The advent of solid‑fuel ceramic matrix composites and hybrid fuels in the late twentieth century has improved both performance and safety.

Modern missile thrusters often employ high‑performance solid boosters for initial launch or sea‑to‑air engagement, followed by ramjet or scramjet engines for sustained high‑altitude flight. In addition, thrust vectoring nozzles can redirect exhaust flow to provide pitch, yaw, and roll control without relying on aerodynamic surfaces, enabling rapid maneuvering in the atmosphere or near‑space environment.
