Missievisie

Missievisie is a Dutch term used in nonprofit, corporate, and religious contexts to describe an integrated framework that defines an organization's core purpose and its long-term direction. Missie describes why the organization exists: the problem or need it seeks to address, the audience it serves, and the intended impact. Visie describes the desired future state—what the organization hopes to achieve, the scope of its influence, and the values that guide its actions. Together, a missievisie expresses both purpose and direction in a concise statement, helping to align decisions, culture, and resources.

In practice, a missievisie serves as a reference point for strategic planning, program design, branding, and fundraising. It communicates to staff, volunteers, partners, and beneficiaries what the organization stands for and where it aims to go. The development typically involves leadership, governance bodies, staff, and sometimes external stakeholders, and is revisited periodically to reflect changes in the environment or strategy.
