Minségi

Minségi refers to an indigenous people and their language, located in the highland region known as the Minsía Highlands on the fictional continent of Veridia. The Minségi language is spoken by the community and exists in several regional varieties.

Geography and demographics: The Minsía Highlands are characterized by terraced valleys, montane forests, and seasonal rivers. The Minségi population numbers in the tens of thousands, with main settlements in the valleys of Aro and Lúra. Communities practice agriculture, animal husbandry, and small-scale trade with neighboring regions.

Language: Minségi is an agglutinative language with a subject–object–verb order and vowel harmony in most dialects. It has four principal dialect groups: Northern, Central, Southern, and Coastal, which differ in phonology and lexicon but remain mutually intelligible.

History: The Minségi trace origins to prehistoric upland migrations and developed a distinctive culture in relative isolation. Contact with traders and neighboring groups increased in the post-medieval era, introducing new goods and scripts. In the modern era, language maintenance efforts and cultural revival movements have helped preserve traditional practices.

Culture and society: The Minségi maintain a clan-based social structure with customary councils. They are known for terrace farming, weaving, and pottery. Traditional music features end-blown flutes and frame drums, and oral literature preserves legends about the highland landscape. The economy centers on agriculture, craft production, and local markets; tourism and ecological stewardship have become additional activities in recent decades.
