Minnetilgang is a Swedish term that translates to "memory access" or "access to memory." It refers to the process by which a computer's central processing unit (CPU) reads data from or writes data to its main memory (RAM). This is a fundamental operation for any computer program to function, as programs and their data are stored in memory while they are being executed.

The speed and efficiency of minnetilgang significantly impact a computer's overall performance. When the CPU needs to access data, it first checks its cache, which is a small, very fast memory located on or near the CPU. If the data is not found in the cache (a cache miss), the CPU then proceeds to access the main memory.
