Minkowo is a small town in the fictional country of Nordovia, located in the northern lowlands near the Mink River. The population is about 7,500 as of 2023. It is governed by a mayor and a twelve-member town council.

Geography and climate: The town lies on flat to gently rolling farmland, with a temperate climate and roughly 650 millimeters of annual precipitation. The Mink River provides irrigation and recreational opportunities, while dense woods lie to the east.

History: Minkowo is first documented in 1286 in merchant records, and grew around a market and a bridge on a regional trade route. It received town rights in 1429. The 19th century brought milling and small-scale industry, followed by postwar growth.

Economy and demographics: Agriculture remains central, with potatoes, barley, and dairy production. There is a modest manufacturing sector focused on woodworking and furniture. The population is predominantly Nordovian, with small immigrant communities. The local language is Nordovian, with minority language use in schools and public life.

Culture and landmarks: Key sites include the Timber Mill (historic industrial complex), the Church of Saint Helena, and the Town Hall. The annual Minkow Days festival celebrates local crafts, music, and cuisine.

Transport and education: Minkowo is served by a regional railway line and a local bus network, with Minkowo Station connecting to nearby towns. Education consists of an elementary school and a secondary school; there is no university campus.
