Minesweeper

Minesweeper is a single-player puzzle video game that was first released in 1989. The objective of the game is to clear a minefield without detonating any mines. The game board is a grid of squares, some of which contain mines. The player clicks on squares to reveal them. If a square containing a mine is clicked, the game is lost. If a square without a mine is clicked, it reveals a number indicating how many mines are adjacent to that square. This number can be from 0 to 8.

Clicking on a square with a 0 means no adjacent mines, and all adjacent squares are automatically revealed. As the player reveals more squares, they can use the numbers to strategically determine which squares are safe to click and which are likely to contain mines. The game is won when all non-mine squares are revealed.

Minesweeper was originally included with Microsoft Windows as part of the Windows Entertainment Pack. It has since been ported to numerous platforms and operating systems.
