Mikrolaiteantennit, also known as microstrip antennas or patch antennas, are a type of radio antenna constructed from a flat, strip-like piece of metal or conductive material on one side of a dielectric substrate, with a ground plane on the other side. This structure gives them a low profile, making them suitable for applications where space is limited or where antennas need to be integrated into surfaces.

These antennas are relatively easy and inexpensive to manufacture using printed circuit board technology, which contributes to their widespread use in various wireless communication systems. Their design can be modified by changing the shape and dimensions of the conductive patch and the substrate's dielectric constant and thickness to achieve desired operating frequencies and radiation patterns.

Mikrolaiteantennit are commonly found in mobile phones, GPS receivers, satellite communication devices, and radar systems. They can be designed to operate over a wide range of frequencies, from UHF to millimeter-wave. While their bandwidth can be narrow in their basic form, techniques like using thicker substrates, slotting the patch, or employing multiple layers can enhance their operational bandwidth. Their radiation pattern is typically broadside, meaning they radiate most strongly perpendicular to the antenna surface.
