Mieszkaców

Mieszkaców is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Jastrzębia, within Radom County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. The settlement lies approximately 12 km south of Radom and 102 km south of Warsaw. It is situated on gently rolling farmland, with the Miechawka Stream flowing nearby.

The earliest documentary mention of Mieszkaców dates to 1423, when it was listed in a royal tax register as a small fiefdom of the local szlachta. Throughout the 16th and 17th centuries the village grew modestly, with its economy based largely on subsistence agriculture and small-scale forestry. During the Partitions of Poland it fell under the Russian-controlled Congress Kingdom and later became part of the Second Polish Republic after 1918. The village remained largely agrarian through the interwar period and experienced collectivisation during the brief Soviet occupation at the end of World War II.

As of the 2011 national census the population of Mieszkaców was 351 residents. The main economic activities are still agriculture, with several family farms growing cereals, potatoes, and sugar beets. A small woodworking enterprise processes local timber for household use. The village also has a primary school, a volunteer fire department, and a volunteer library. The 18th‑century wooden Church of St. Michael, a protected cultural monument, serves as a focal point for local religious and community events.

Mieszkaców is accessible by local road 720, which connects it to the national road network via the nearby town of Jastrzębia. Public transport links include a bus service that runs to Radom and Jastrzębia on most weekdays. The nearest railway station is in Radom, where regular regional services provide connections to Warsaw and other major cities.
