Microgliaiden
Microgliaiden is a term used in speculative biology and in some fictional science contexts to describe a proposed lineage of central nervous system–resident immune cells that are closely related to microglia but with distinctive functional and molecular profiles. In these models, Microgliaiden are hypothesized to originate from microglial precursors or yolk-sac macrophages and to diverge under specific signaling conditions to form a separate subpopulation within the CNS.
Morphology and distribution: They are described as small to medium cells with ramified processes in the surveillant
Functions and roles: Proponents assign Microgliaiden roles in debris clearance, synaptic remodeling, immune signaling, and, in
Research status: The existence of Microgliaiden is not established in mainstream neuroscience and is not included
