MiG31BM
The MiG-31BM is a modernized variant of the Soviet-era MiG-31 interceptor aircraft. Developed by the Mikoyan design bureau, the MiG-31BM program aimed to significantly upgrade the capabilities of the existing MiG-31 fleet, extending its operational life and enhancing its combat effectiveness. Key improvements include a new radar system, updated avionics, and improved electronic warfare capabilities. The primary role of the MiG-31BM remains long-range interception of enemy aircraft, particularly bombers and reconnaissance aircraft, and also includes the ability to engage cruise missiles. Its powerful radar allows it to detect targets at very long ranges, and it is armed with a range of air-to-air missiles, including the R-33 and R-40. The modernization program also incorporated provisions for targeting ground objectives, broadening its mission set. The MiG-31BM is operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
