Mi28
The Mi-28, designated by NATO as Havoc, is a Russian twin-engine attack helicopter developed by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant. It is designed for all-weather, day and night anti-armor and close air support missions. The helicopter features a two-seat tandem cockpit protected by armor, twin turboshaft engines, and a robust airframe intended to operate in demanding environments. It employs modern avionics including a helmet-mounted sighting system, an infrared search-and-track (IRST) and a flight-and-targeting computer, enabling precision engagement at night. The Mi-28 utilizes a chin-mounted 30 mm cannon and can carry a range of missiles and rockets, including laser-guided anti-tank missiles such as Vikhr and Ataka, as well as unguided rockets and bombs, on internal bays and external pylons.
There are two main variants: the Mi-28A, the initial production variant; and the Mi-28N Night Hunter, with
Development began in the late 20th century to supplement or replace older attack helicopters in Russian service.
