Mfasen

Mfasen is a fictional village and commune in Veridia, a country on the continent of Aralia. It lies in a highland valley near the Mofa River, about 60 kilometers southeast of the regional capital. The commune covers roughly 120 square kilometers and has a resident population of about 3,200 people (2023 census), with a low to moderate population density.

Origins date to the 18th century when settlers established a crossing along the river. The name Mfasen derives from the Mfas clan. The area developed a market town role in the 19th century.

Economy is the main activity: maize, cassava, and vegetables; small-scale coffee and banana farms; local markets; some crafts such as pottery.

Administration is governed by a municipal council of nine members led by a mayor, elected to four-year terms. It is part of Veridia's decentralized governance system, with limited provincial authority.

Infrastructure includes a road link to the regional capital via a paved road; regular bus service; electricity from a national grid; mobile and internet coverage.

Culture and people: Veridian is the official language; local dialects, including Mfasen, are also spoken. Religious composition is mainly Christian with traditional beliefs; festivals include the River Festival in the dry season.

Education and health: One primary school and one secondary school; a community clinic; nearest hospital located in the regional capital, about 50–60 km away.
