Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby was born on August 19, 1973. She is the Crown Princess of Norway as the wife of Crown Prince Haakon, the heir to the Norwegian throne. Her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon took place on August 25, 2001. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a waitress and had a son, Marius Borg Høiby, born in 1997. Marius is her son from a previous relationship and is not in the line of succession. The couple has two children together, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, born in 2004, and Prince Sverre Magnus, born in 2005. Princess Ingrid Alexandra is second in line to the throne after her father.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been involved in various charitable causes and international initiatives.
