Metsara

Metsara is a fictional town and municipality in the country of Valoria, located in the Valoran Highlands along the Valoran River. The municipality covers about 42 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 1,200 in 2023. The local economy centers on agriculture, forestry, and small renewable energy projects. The landscape combines mixed woodland, pastures, and several hamlets; the climate is temperate with mild summers and cool winters.

The name Metsara is believed to derive from the local language elements meaning "edge of the forest" or "between trees", though the precise origin is uncertain.

History: The settlement appears in records dating to the 14th century and grew around a timber trading post and a manor. It acquired municipal status in the early 19th century and has since balanced agricultural roots with diversification in services and small-scale industry.

Governance and infrastructure: Metsara is governed by a mayor and a council of twelve members. It belongs to Valoria's northern prefecture and is connected by regional roads to neighboring towns; the closest rail line runs from a larger city about 25 kilometers away. A small hydroelectric station provides part of the municipality's electricity.

Culture and landmarks: The town hosts an annual harvest festival in autumn and preserves a historic mill and a forest reserve that attract visitors. Local crafts include woodcarving and textile weaving.
