Metsätaloushallitus
Metsätaloushallitus was a Finnish government agency responsible for managing state-owned forests. Established in 1994, it replaced the previous Metsähallitus organization. Its primary duties included sustainable forestry, forest conservation, recreational use of forests, and revenue generation from timber sales. The agency managed a significant portion of Finland's forestland, playing a crucial role in the national economy and environmental policies. Metsätaloushallitus was also tasked with developing and implementing forest management plans, conducting research, and providing guidance on forest-related matters. In 2017, Metsätaloushallitus was integrated into the new Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife Finland, which continues to manage state-owned lands and waters for both economic and recreational purposes. The transition aimed to streamline operations and enhance the synergy between different aspects of land management. The legacy of Metsätaloushallitus lies in its contribution to the long-term sustainable development of Finland's forest resources.
