Metallytbeläggning is a Swedish term that translates to metallic coating or metallization. It refers to the process of applying a thin layer of metal onto the surface of another material. This coating can serve various purposes, including enhancing the material's aesthetic appeal, improving its corrosion resistance, increasing its electrical conductivity, or providing a barrier against wear and tear.

The methods used for metallytbeläggning are diverse and depend on the base material and the desired properties of the coating. Common techniques include electroplating, where a metal ion solution is used to deposit a metal layer through electrolysis. Another method is physical vapor deposition (PVD), which involves vaporizing a metal and allowing it to condense onto the substrate.
