Metallisäteestä

Metallisäteestä, often translated as metallic luster or sheen, refers to the characteristic way light reflects off the surface of certain minerals and materials. It is a physical property that arises from the way free electrons within the material interact with electromagnetic radiation. Unlike non-metallic materials, which absorb or transmit light, metals and some minerals with metallic bonding have a high density of free electrons that can readily absorb and re-emit photons. This rapid absorption and re-emission process results in a bright, opaque appearance that is often described as shiny, reflective, or polished.
