Memóriahatása

Memóriahatása, often translated as memory effect or residual effect, refers to a phenomenon where the performance or behavior of a system or device is influenced by its past states or inputs. This influence can manifest in various ways depending on the context.

In the realm of electronics, particularly with rechargeable batteries, the memory effect was historically associated with certain types of older battery chemistries like Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd). If these batteries were repeatedly recharged before being fully discharged, they could develop a "memory" of the shallower discharge cycles, leading to a reduced effective capacity. Newer battery technologies, such as Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Lithium-ion (Li-ion), are largely immune to this type of memory effect.

Beyond batteries, the term can be applied more broadly. In psychology, it might describe how a person's current perception or decision-making is subtly altered by prior experiences or information, even if those experiences are not consciously recalled. In computing, a system's behavior might be influenced by previous operations or data stored in its memory cache. The core idea is that the past leaves a trace that affects the present.
