Melgaço is a municipality located in the northern region of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Situated in the Mesoregion of Norte Fluminense and part of the Microregion of Rio das Pedras, it is bordered by the municipalities of Rio das Pedras to the north, São Mateus to the east, São Sebastião do Paraíso to the south, and the state of Rio de Janeiro to the west. The municipality covers an area of approximately 225 square kilometers and has a population of around 15,000 inhabitants as of recent estimates.
