Megrizte

Megrizte is a town and municipality in the central lowlands region of Eldoria, situated along the Aurex River. With a population of about 38,000, it serves as the administrative center of Megrizte District.

It lies on flat alluvial plains near the foothills of the Verdan Mountains. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and wet winters; average annual precipitation around 700 millimeters.

Megrizte's origins trace to a settlement established in the 9th century by the Megrin traders. It grew as a market town in the High Middle Ages and gained self-government in the 14th century. The town expanded industrially after the railway reached the area in the late 19th century.

Today the economy centers on light manufacturing, food processing, and services. The surrounding countryside remains important for fruit and cereal production. The town hosts a weekly market and a regional fair.

Landmarks include Megrizte Cathedral (14th century Gothic), the old town walls, and the Aurex riverside promenade. The annual Megrin Market Festival in autumn showcases crafts and cuisine.

Administratively, Megrizte is governed by a municipal council and a mayor. The population is predominantly Eldorian-speaking, with minority communities speaking nearby dialects. The religious landscape is mainly secular or tied to a historic Roman Catholic heritage.
