Megiewian

Megiewian is a fictional term used to describe the people, language, and culture associated with Megiewia, a hypothetical nation in the northern coastal region of the continent of Veridia, created for world-building in speculative fiction. In this context, Megiewian denotes both the inhabitants and the language they speak. The term Megiewian is formed from Megiewia plus the adjectival suffix -an.

Megiewia is described as a country with rugged interior highlands, temperate forests, and a rocky coastline. The population is concentrated in coastal cities and river valleys; major urban centers include Solmere (the capital) and Vireau (a port).

Settled in the early medieval era, Megiewia developed as a collection of autonomous districts; in the late medieval period, it formed a loose confederation, and modern independence was achieved in 1842 after a short revolutionary conflict.

Megiewian language has two major dialects, Northern and Southern, which share core grammar but differ in phonology and vocabulary. It is an analytic language with a subject–verb–object order and uses the Megiewian script, a syllabic alphabet devised in the 15th century; Latin transliteration is common for learning materials.
