Meghatalmazásmegbízás is a Hungarian legal term that translates to "delegation of authority" or "mandate delegation." It refers to the act of one person or entity granting another person or entity the legal authority to act on their behalf in specific matters. This delegation is typically formalized through a written document, often called a meghatalmazás (power of attorney).

The scope of the authority granted can vary significantly. It can be very broad, allowing the designated individual to handle almost all affairs of the grantor, or it can be highly specific, authorizing action only in a particular transaction or for a defined period. Common examples include granting a lawyer the authority to represent a client in court, allowing a spouse to manage financial affairs during an absence, or empowering an agent to sell a property.

The legal validity of a meghatalmazásmegbízás relies on several factors. The grantor must possess the legal capacity to grant authority, meaning they are of sound mind and of legal age. The document itself must clearly state the extent of the delegated authority, identify both the grantor and the grantee, and be signed by the grantor. In some cases, especially for significant transactions or where required by law, notarization of the document may be necessary to ensure its authenticity and enforceability.
