Megabyzus
Megabyzus (Greek: Megabázos) was an Achaemenid Persian general and statesman active in the late 6th and early 5th centuries BCE. In the classical sources he is cited as a high-ranking commander and administrator who held provincial authority in the western part of the empire, most notably as satrap of Syria, serving under Darius I and possibly his successors. He is one of several Persian magnates whose careers illustrate the integration of military and administrative power within the imperial system.
