Meerschaum
Meerschaum is a soft white clay mineral, a hydrous magnesium silicate with the chemical formula Mg2Si6O15(OH)2. Its name is derived from the German word "Meerschaum," meaning "sea foam," due to its low density, which allows it to float on water. This characteristic is also reflected in its scientific name, sepiolite, which comes from the Greek word "spira" meaning cuttlefish, another buoyant marine animal.
The mineral is primarily found in the Eskişehir region of Turkey, where it occurs in alluvial deposits.
Beyond pipes, meerschaum has been used for decorative objects, figurines, and even as a filler in cosmetics
