Mattercompatible
Matter-compatible refers to devices and software that implement the Matter standard, an open, cross‑vendor protocol designed to improve interoperability among smart home products. Matter is designed to run over Internet Protocol networks and supports multiple underlying transports, including Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, and Thread, with onboarding and device commissioning often using Bluetooth Low Energy. The goal is for devices from different brands and ecosystems to work together seamlessly, controlled via compatible hubs, apps, and voice assistants.
The standard is developed and governed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), formerly the Zigbee Alliance.
