Masca

Masca is a small village located in the Teno Mountains of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, Spain. Situated in a dramatic ravine, it is known for its stunning natural beauty and challenging hiking trails. Access to Masca was historically difficult, contributing to its preserved character. Until the late 20th century, the only way to reach the village was on foot or by mule. The most famous activity associated with Masca is the hike down the Masca Gorge to the sea. This challenging trek takes several hours and involves navigating a rocky riverbed, scrambling over boulders, and descending steep sections. The trail concludes at a black sand beach where visitors can take a boat back to the nearby port of Los Gigantes. Due to its popularity and the demanding nature of the hike, visitors are advised to check conditions and book boat trips in advance.
