Marathispeaking refers to the population that uses Marathi as its primary language. It is most closely associated with the Indian state of Maharashtra, where Marathi is the official language and widely spoken in urban and rural areas alike. Beyond Maharashtra, Marathi-speaking communities are found in neighboring states such as Goa, Karnataka (notably in border districts), Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, as well as among migrant communities in various parts of India and around the world.
