Maradjon

Maradjon is a form of the Hungarian verb maradni, meaning "to stay" or "to remain." It functions as the third-person singular present subjunctive (jussive) and as the formal imperative for addressing one person (Ön) or several people (Önök). In contemporary usage, maradjon is most common in polite requests or formal statements, for example: Kérem, maradjon itt. The form can also introduce a wish or condition in clauses with hogy, as in hogy maradjon biztonságban, “that he stay safe.”

Morphology and usage considerations: maradjon is built from the stem marad- plus the suffix -jon, which marks the present subjunctive and the formal imperative in Hungarian. It agrees with a singular referent in formal address. The informal imperative forms of maradni are maradj (te) and maradjatok (ti).
