Manarola

Manarola is one of the five villages that make up the Cinque Terre, a coastal region in the province of La Spezia, Liguria, Italy. It is the second smallest of the five villages, perched on a dramatic cliff overlooking the Ligurian Sea. The village is characterized by its colorful houses that appear to tumble down the steep hillside towards the harbor.

The economy of Manarola has traditionally been based on fishing and viticulture. The terraced vineyards clinging to the hillsides are a distinctive feature of the landscape, producing local wines, most notably the Sciacchetrà, a sweet dessert wine. The narrow, winding streets and steep staircases are typical of the region, and cars are generally not permitted within the village.

Manarola is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its picturesque scenery, hiking trails connecting it to the other Cinque Terre villages, and opportunities for swimming and sunbathing in its small harbor. The Via dell'Amore, a scenic coastal path that once linked Manarola to Riomaggiore, is a well-known attraction, though it has been subject to closures due to landslides. The village also has a historic church, San Lorenzo, dating back to the 14th century.
