Malaymajority

Malaymajority is a demographic and political descriptor used to identify geographic areas where ethnic Malays constitute the majority of residents. In Malaysia, Malays are a constitutionally defined group, and Malaymajority areas are often discussed in analyses of electoral geography, public policy, and social structure.

The term is most commonly applied to peninsular Malaysia, where Malays form the central sociopolitical base and Malay language usage is predominant. It also intersects with discussions of Bumiputera privileges, which the Malaysian Constitution reserves for Malays and other indigenous peoples under Article 153 in areas such as education, civil service, and housing.

Malaymajority does not correspond to a formal administrative category. The proportion of Malays in any given district or state can vary due to migration, birth rates, and boundary changes. While these areas tend to have different political dynamics than minority-majority regions, Malaymajority districts are not uniformly aligned with a single political party, and diverse opinions can exist within them.

The concept is primarily used within Malaysian constitutional and electoral contexts, though it may be referenced in comparative discussions about ethnic composition in other countries with Malay populations.
