In many narratives, Makeaan denotes a coastal region consisting of three main islands and several islets on the eastern fringe of the fictional continent of Valara, in the southern seas. The regional capital is also named Makeaan.

The climate is tropical monsoon, with a pronounced wet season that shapes agriculture and daily life. The archipelago sits along historic sea lanes and natural harbors that facilitate trade and contact with neighboring regions.
