Macroproperties

Macroproperties are theoretical properties attributed to systems or entities that arise from the interactions and relationships among their constituent parts. This concept is primarily discussed within the fields of philosophy, especially in the areas of metaphysics and ontology. The idea of macroproperties was first introduced by David Lewis, an Australian philosopher, in his 1986 paper "Parts of Classes" as an extension of his counterfactual theory of causation.

These properties are thought to possess a character that cannot be fully captured by describing the individual parts in isolation.
