MT1reseptori, also known as the melatonin receptor 1, is a G protein-coupled receptor that primarily binds to melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, and its secretion is regulated by the light-dark cycle. MT1reseptori are widely distributed throughout the body, with high concentrations found in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus, the retina, the anterior pituitary, and vascular smooth muscle.
