MStaudissa

MStaudissa is a town and municipality in the northern Veridian Highlands of Verdania. The municipality covers about 42.6 square kilometers and lies at an elevation around 320 meters. The name is of Germanic origin, with elements meaning shrub or stand of trees and a settlement suffix.

Geography and economy: It sits along the Verda River, with a landscape of mixed farmland and deciduous woodland. The local economy combines agriculture—grain, apples, and vineyards—with light manufacturing and services. Tourism centers on the surrounding countryside and the nearby Lake Silbersee nature reserve.

History: The settlement is first mentioned in 1270, and developed around a water mill and a feudal manor. It expanded in the 18th and 19th centuries with improvements to transport links and was incorporated as a municipality in the 19th century. In the 20th century it underwent several administrative reforms and consolidated local services.

Demographics: As of 2023, MStaudissa has about 7,900 residents. The population is largely homogeneous but includes a growing share of residents from other Verdarian regions.

Culture and landmarks: The parish church of Saint Matthias, dating to the 13th century and rebuilt in the 15th, stands at the town center. The nearby Lake Silbersee and protected forests are popular for hiking and birdwatching. The annual Harvest Festival in September highlights local produce and crafts.
