MRIangiográfia is a medical imaging technique used to visualize blood vessels. It is a type of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that specifically focuses on the arteries and veins within the body. This non-invasive procedure uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the vascular system. Contrast agents, which are substances that enhance the visibility of blood vessels, are often injected intravenously to improve image quality.

The primary applications of MRIangiográfia include the diagnosis and assessment of various vascular conditions. It can detect aneurysms, which are bulges in blood vessel walls, and stenosis, a narrowing of blood vessels that can impede blood flow. It is also used to identify blockages, malformations, and dissections in arteries and veins. Conditions such as stroke, peripheral artery disease, and congenital vascular abnormalities can be evaluated using this technique.

The procedure itself typically takes between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the area of the body being examined and the complexity of the imaging protocol. Patients lie on a table that slides into the MRI scanner, a large, tube-shaped machine. While the scanner is relatively quiet, some patients may experience claustrophobia, and earplugs or headphones are often provided. The contrast agent is administered through an intravenous line. After the scan, the images are reviewed by a radiologist to identify any abnormalities. MRIangiográfia offers a valuable tool for understanding the health and function of the body's blood vessels without the need for surgery or exposure to ionizing radiation like X-rays.
