MPlukuja is a lesser-known traditional musical instrument from the highlands of Papua New Guinea, specifically associated with the Huli people of the Southern Highlands Province. The name "MPlukuja" is derived from the Huli language, where "M" indicates a musical or ceremonial context, and "Plukuja" refers to the instrument's distinctive sound or construction.

The MPlukuja is a type of slit drum, crafted from hollowed-out tree trunks, typically from the *Diospyros* species. These drums are often adorned with intricate carvings or patterns, reflecting the cultural and spiritual significance of the instrument. The playing surface is sealed with animal hide, usually from a pig or kangaroo, stretched tightly over one end of the drum.
