MORENAvary is a fictional autonomous region and urban center in the northern continent of Veridia. Conceived as a hub of trade, culture, and technology, it blends a historic river valley with a contemporary port-and-knowledge economy. The name is a stylized compound intended to evoke resilience and adaptability.

It covers roughly 1,200 square kilometers, including a tidal river delta, a network of canals, and several higher-elevation districts that rise above floodplains. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm, wet summers, moderated by coastal breezes.

Historically a market town dating to the early medieval era, MORENAvary achieved autonomous city-state status in the 15th century under a charter model that grants local legislative powers. In the late 20th century it joined the Veridian Confederation, retaining considerable self-government while coordinating with regional authorities. A 2010s green-infrastructure initiative prioritized flood protection, transit, and renewable energy.

Stacked into a diversified economy, the region relies on logistics and port activities, advanced manufacturing for sustainable technologies, and education services. The port handles regional trade and serves as a gateway to inland markets. A cluster of research institutes fosters AI, climate science, and materials engineering.

MORENAvary hosts multilingual communities and a yearly Morena Festival celebrating science, arts, and civic life. Notable sites include the Grand Aqua Bridge, the Arcology of Solace, the Veridia University campus, and the Civic Amphitheater.

Governance operates under a mayor-council system. The council comprises district representatives and technocratic committees focusing on housing, environment, and economic development. Public-works transparency and climate resilience are central policy goals.
