MIBUTE

MIBUTE, also known as Mbuti pygmies, are indigenous people who inhabit the Ituri Rainforest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are renowned for their hunter-gatherer lifestyle and their deep connection to the forest. The Mbuti are one of the earliest known inhabitants of the rainforest, with a history stretching back thousands of years.

Historically, the Mbuti have lived in small, nomadic bands, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering for sustenance. They are skilled trackers and hunters, using bows and arrows, spears, and nets. Their knowledge of the forest's flora and fauna is extensive, enabling them to identify edible plants, medicinal herbs, and the habits of various animals.

Socially, Mbuti society is characterized by egalitarianism and cooperation. They traditionally lived in huts made from branches and leaves. Their culture is rich in oral traditions, including music, dance, and storytelling, which play vital roles in transmitting knowledge and maintaining social cohesion.
