MDM2MDMX
MDM2MDMX refers to the interaction between two important proteins, MDM2 and MDMX. Both are negative regulators of the tumor suppressor protein p53. MDM2 is a ubiquitin ligase that targets p53 for degradation, thereby controlling its levels within the cell. MDMX, also known as MDM4, acts in a complementary way. While MDMX does not possess E3 ubiquitin ligase activity itself, it binds to p53 and inhibits its transcriptional activity, effectively preventing p53 from carrying out its protective functions.
The interaction between MDM2 and MDMX is crucial for their combined ability to suppress p53. MDM2 can
