MACprotokolle

MAC Protokolle are a category of network protocols used for communication between network interface controllers, specifically Mac Addresses, to manage and control network traffic.

The primary function of MAC protocols is to responsible for framing, error detection and correction, and flow control on the MAC sublayer of the OSI model. They enable devices to exchange data packets between them, interpreting MAC addresses, sorting and forwarding data packets accordingly.

MAC protocols support packet transport through the data link layer, defining how packets are accessioned, and the connectionless protocols are used to apply set of simplification abstraction protocols and handling.

Some of the protocols operating on MAC-level include Ethernet, Wi-Fi and LocalTalk. The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) and Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) are examples of transported protocols that use ARP PID or AMP protocols.

Data is transported over MAC protocol using structures called frames. The frame structure may contain a destination MAC address, a source MAC address, an ethertype identifier that defines the type of other layer data of the packet.
