Münzgestaltern, often translated as "coin designers" or "mint engravers," are the artists and craftspeople responsible for the artistic conception and execution of coin designs. Their work involves translating abstract ideas, historical figures, national symbols, and artistic motifs into durable, tangible forms that can be replicated on a mass scale. This profession requires a unique blend of artistic skill, technical precision, and an understanding of metallurgy and minting processes.

The process typically begins with a brief, outlining the theme or requirements of the new coin.
