Mädapõletik

Mädapõletik, also known as purulent inflammation or suppuration, is a type of inflammation characterized by the formation of pus. Pus is a thick fluid that typically contains dead white blood cells, dead tissue, and bacteria. It is the body's response to infection, particularly by pyogenic bacteria which produce pus.

The development of mädapõletik usually begins with an injury or infection that allows bacteria to enter the tissues. The body's immune system responds by sending white blood cells to the site of infection to fight the invading microorganisms. In the case of pyogenic bacteria, this battle often results in the death of white blood cells, which accumulate along with other debris to form pus.

Symptoms of mädapõletik can vary depending on the location and severity, but commonly include redness, swelling, pain, and warmth at the affected site. Pus may be visible, especially if it is near the surface of the skin, appearing as a yellowish or greenish discharge. Fever and general malaise can also occur if the infection is widespread or severe.

Treatment for mädapõletik often involves draining the accumulated pus to remove the source of infection and reduce pressure on surrounding tissues. Antibiotics are frequently prescribed to combat the bacterial infection. In some cases, surgical intervention may be necessary to clean the infected area thoroughly. Proper wound care and hygiene are crucial in preventing mädapõletik.
