Lösungsvorbereitung refers to the process of preparing a solution, which is a homogeneous mixture of a solute dissolved in a solvent. This is a fundamental technique in chemistry, biology, and many industrial applications. The preparation involves accurately measuring and combining the solute and solvent to achieve a specific concentration or composition.

The first step in Lösungsvorbereitung is usually to determine the desired concentration of the final solution. This can be expressed in various units, such as molarity (moles of solute per liter of solution), molality (moles of solute per kilogram of solvent), percentage by mass, or percentage by volume. Once the concentration is established, the required amounts of solute and solvent can be calculated.

Next, the solute and solvent are carefully measured. For solids, this often involves using an analytical balance to ensure high precision. Liquids can be measured using graduated cylinders, volumetric pipettes, or burettes, depending on the required accuracy. The solute is then added to the solvent, and the mixture is stirred or agitated to ensure complete dissolution.

For solutions requiring precise concentrations, a volumetric flask is often used. The solute is dissolved in a smaller amount of solvent, and then the flask is carefully filled to the mark with additional solvent. This ensures that the final volume of the solution is accurately known, which is critical for molarity calculations. Special care may be needed for volatile solvents or solutes that react with air or moisture, often involving techniques like using a fume hood or an inert atmosphere.
