Lóðurr

Lóðurr is a deity from Norse mythology, primarily mentioned in the Poetic Edda and Prose Edda, collections of Old Norse poetic and prose poetry that serve as primary sources for Norse myth and legend. Lóðurr is recognized as one of the original gods involved in the creation of the first humans, alongside Odin and Honir.

In the mythological narratives, Lóðurr is credited with bestowing essential attributes to the first humans, Ask and Embla, the primordial ancestors of mankind. According to the Prose Edda, Odin, Honir, and Lóðurr shaped the human beings from trees—Ask from an ash and Embla from an elm—and granted them life, consciousness, and natural faculties. Lóðurr contributed by giving humans their skin, hair, and the vital warmth that sustains life.
