Línulegirsins
Línulegirsins is a term originating from Icelandic, often translated as "linear accelerator." It refers to a type of particle accelerator that uses a straight vacuum tube with a series of electrodes. An alternating electric field is applied across these electrodes. Charged particles, such as electrons or protons, are injected into the tube and are accelerated by the electric field as they pass through each gap between electrodes. The field is timed so that it always pushes the particles forward, increasing their speed and energy with each stage.
The design of a linear accelerator allows for particles to reach very high energies. Unlike circular accelerators
